As an artist with a scientific background, I draw upon my knowledge of biological systems and their relationships to distill and present alternate vantage points on life. For example, analogous to the script of nucleic acids that codify our very beings, virtually nothing in society is static: simple rules of evolution describe the active process through which religions change, language grows, and social boundaries fluctuate. Similarly, notions of life that seem concrete to many are often challenged by investigations into the microscopic cellular world and beyond.
These objects are intended to provide a focal point for self reflection, illustrating the rich complexity of molecular structure inherent in life magnified and rendered in the tangible media of cast bronze and glass.
